Welcome to my website, Sunshine & Strength. ☀️ (Still a work in progress, but I'm so glad you're here!)
After more than 20 years working in health, including operating theatres, A&E, intensive care and diabetes care, I've seen far too many people struggle with illness and lose their lives far too soon to conditions that can be prevented and addressed through lifestyle.
With a strong family history of cardiovascular disease, my passion for prevention is also personal, and what started with a “short” course turned into a very long (and seemingly never-ending!) journey into nutrition, lifestyle medicine and understanding what really shapes our health.
I can happily disappear down a good rabbit hole when it comes to the human body and healthy living, but I'm more interested in turning that knowledge into something useful in real, messy, everyday life.
If there's one thing I've learnt, it's that real health isn't built on the next quick fix, restrictive diet or latest wellness trend. It's built on the simple, no-nonsense, often seemingly boring things we do every day.
The real challenge, and where the magic happens, is finding ways to make those things part of your everyday life, so they become habits that last and give us the health, strength and freedom to enjoy it.
I believe in a little rebellion and refusing to accept "normal". Just because something is common doesn't mean it's inevitable or something we have to put up with.
You have more influence over your health and how you feel than you may possibly realise!
True health rarely comes from the flashy things, the quick fixes, or the fads that seem to be everywhere we look.
It's the boring, everyday, simple, and ordinary things, done consistently, that have extraordinary effects.
So, if you're a "young" mid-lifer who's tired of constantly starting over, let's choose the boring things and bring you back to life!
